Business Intelligence 2.0 is going to change the way we have understood Business Intelligence and its software tools for a great number of years. These are some of the most prominent factors of this impact:
Convergence with the rest of the company
Traditionally, Business Intelligence has been a closed preserve for analysts, financiers and directors. Now, BI democratizes and, practically, the entire organization will have access and will be part of this new approach to understand Business Intelligence in a collaborative way.

The existence of many more participants in the system: employees, regulators, partners, customers, integrators, etc … and the improvement of hardware capabilities (processors, memory, etc …) will make the load and the transformation must be done simultaneously with the analyzes.
Changes in methodologies
There will be new debates about which methodologies or approaches are better and, in some cases, new approaches will appear. Ex) Perhaps column-oriented databases can be better than relational ones, when you want “lightning-fast” access to large amounts of data.
Universal data access
Using business-appropriate semantics and metadata, the DataWarehouse must be accessible and created without the need for complicated, time-consuming and harsh ETL processes. This shortens the steps from source data to final display by users.
Licensing changes
As the number of users of these systems will increase dramatically, organizations will not be able to cover the cost with traditional BI tools. Fortunately, the existence of open source and on-demand alternatives will facilitate and enhance this change.
